Traxite Colourfine Finish Non Slip Flooring

Traxite Colourfine is a 2-3mm aggregate finish for non-slip flooring and repair applications.

It consists of resin with coloured chip to provide a safe, yet decorative floor finish.  Often used is swimming pool surrounds.

Traxite Colourfine VE is highly flexible and durable repair versions for more extreme environments

Defining Traxite Colourfine: The Engineered Quartz Solution

Traxite Colourfine is an in-situ, trowel-applied, coloured natural quartz stone floor finish utilizing an epoxy-based resin for exceptional concrete adhesion and penetration. It is engineered as a virtually seamless, dimensionally stable, liquid-applied floor topping system, not installed as tiles, which becomes an integral part of the building structure once cured.

Core Architectural Features

  • Durability & Resistance: Offers very good abrasion resistance and requires a minimum bond strength of 1.5 MPa to prepared substrates.
  • Safety & Compliance: Provides excellent slip resistance with an R11 rating possible. Specification is needed of the degree required.
  • Hygienic Integrity: The cured film is non-toxic, non-porous, and non-moisture permeable (Moisture absorption is 0.04 percent by weight), inhibiting bacterial/fungal growth due to its seamless nature, making it hygienic and easily cleaned.
  • Versatility & Logistics: Available in a wide range of custom colour blends and clear coat finishes (medium/high gloss). The Rapidcote Clear Finish Option is recommended for a Fast Return to Service to minimize operational downtime.

Recommended applications include environments needing high durability and hygiene, such as Ablution areas, Aquatic Centres, Bars and Restaurants, Entry Foyers, Fire Stations, Sports Changing Facilities, Shops, and Showrooms.

Traxite Colourfine provides exceptional mechanical performance. Key specifications include: a minimum installed thickness of 3 millimeters (typically 4 millimeters for full in-service temperature range of negative 10 degrees Celsius to plus 60 degrees Celsius); outstanding abrasion and scuff resistance; and compliance with safety standards via an R11 slip resistance rating (Co-efficient of Friction 0.63) as per AS/NZS 4586. Adhesion to a correctly prepared substrate exceeds 1.5 MPa minimum.

Concrete must be cured for a minimum of 28 days prior to installation. New concrete must be mechanically trowelled to an AS3610:1995 U3/NZ/3114:1987U3 finish. Old concrete must have a minimum compressive strength of 25 MPa. Application to green (uncured) concrete or an incorrectly prepared surface is a specified limitation.

For plywood, strict compliance with AS/NZS2269 (minimum 17 millimeters H3.2 CCA treated for floors) is mandatory, including specific corrosion-resistant screws and the installation of an STZ Epoxy 450gram Chopped Strand Mat Fibreglass Laminate prior to application.

The system is a virtually seamless, liquid-applied, epoxy-quartz matrix which is non-porous and non-moisture permeable (Moisture Absorption: 0.04 percent by weight). This inhibits the growth of bacteria or fungal spores. This hygienic profile is ideal for areas requiring washdown and stringent cleanliness, such as Ablution areas, Aquatic Centres, and Sports Changing Facilities.

Clear coat options are available in medium gloss and high gloss (e.g., Revathane Glaze Topcoats). For projects requiring minimal downtime, the Rapidcote Clear Finish Option is available and specifically recommended for Fast Return to Service. The finished system achieves full chemical resistance after curing for 7 days at 25 degrees Celsius.

Longevity is conditional upon the use and maintenance. Warranty compliance requires that installation be undertaken by a Bondlast Licensed Contractor and adherence to specific maintenance protocols. The standard manufacturer’s warranty for high wear is 5 years. It is very long wearing but to determine the precise warranty we need to carry out an assessment.

Traxite Colourfine can be applied to skirting, coves, and upstands using specially formed trowels, creating a smooth, seamless transition. Standard specifications for hygiene compliance include a 25 millimeters cove radius and a 150 millimeters upstand height, though these can be customized as specified by the architect. Floors must be protected during cove/skirting installation.

The finished system, particularly when sealed with recommended topcoats, is resistant to chemical spillage. It provides a significantly superior barrier compared to standard concrete sealers, offering full protection against chemical penetration. Full resistance data (cured 7 days at 25 degrees Celsius) must be consulted in the specific Chemical Resistance charts relevant to the chosen glaze option.

Successful installation requires strict adherence to environmental controls. The minimum air application temperature is plus 10 degrees Celsius and the maximum application Relative Humidity (RH) is 85 percent. Application below the temperature minimum is a defined limitation and is crucial for achieving the system’s guaranteed physical properties.

Routine maintenance requires the use of a neutral pH sanitiser/detergent. Facility managers must strictly adhere to the thermal cleaning limit: the maximum cleaning water temperature for Traxite Colourfine is 40 degrees Celsius. Prolonged use of highly alkaline or chlorine-based cleaners should be avoided, and steam cleaning by untrained operators is not recommended due to the risk of exceeding thermal thresholds.
